The new US Ambassador to the Netherlands, Mr. Pete (Pieter) Hoekstra, visited Nijmegen on the 22nd of February. Oost NL (East Netherlands Development Agency) arranged visits to the companies NXP and Kraft Heinz and accompanied the Ambassador at the different sites.
Oost NL CEO, Mr. Marius Prins, presented an overall brochure of the economic structure of East Netherlands and the strong US connection with over 350 subsidiary facilities of American companies in the Provinces of Gelderland and Overijssel.
With a history as entrepreneur and member of several boards of technology companies, Mr. Hoekstra was impressed about the technology level of the companies and the technology cluster in Nijmegen as a whole.
NXP and Kraft Heinz, both being important international R&D facilities of these multinational corporations, were well prepared and not only presented their strategic forecasts, but also involved several departments at the facility. To showcase the backbone of the technology development resulting into great products and international competitive advantage in their respective markets.
With a delegation of the economic department of the US Embassy visiting the week after, Oost NL and the US Embassy take this as a great kick-off to further deepen the relationships and work together on several new projects in the future.
