MACOM Technology Solutions Inc. has officially opened its Center of Excellence for Radio Frequency (RF) Energy Applications at the Novio Tech Campus in Nijmegen.

From this location, MACOM plans to strengthen its relationship with clients throughout Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA).

This center now allows MACOM to offer quick support service, in addition to this locations in the UK, Ireland, France, Germany and Italy, as well as offices in China, Taiwan, India, Japan and the US.

RF energy has many uses in consumer as well as industrial applications. The best known use of RF energy for consumers is most likely its use in microwave ovens.

MACOM also adapts the technology for use in the aerospace, defense and communication infrastructure applications.

“One of the most important reasons for us to open this location is to boost our growth,” explains Mark Murphy, Senior Director of Marketing and Business Development for RF Power at MACOM. “This location is a hub for qualified RF experts and allows access to both talent and resources.”

Contact was first made with MACOM through the city of Nijmegen and the company has begun its local representation through a small marketing, sales and R&D office.

The company expects the R&D activities to increase, with a resulting growth in the number of expats arriving in the Nijmegen area.

In response, the Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency (NFIA) and East Netherlands Development Agency (Oost NL) also provided information and support through the Highly Skilled Migrant program and other incentives, as well as the full cooperation of their expat center.
