The fact that the head office for all non-North American activities of the US Paul Mueller Company is located on the industrial site Laarberg in the Achterhoek, is due to the joint efforts of Oost NL and several partners. Mueller is a technologically advanced manufacturer of storage and process tanks for dairy farms, breweries and process industries. In 2017, the company decided to consolidate its four Dutch establishments to one site.
The fact that the head office for all non-North American activities of the US Paul Mueller Company is located on the industrial site Laarberg in the Achterhoek, is due to the joint efforts of Oost NL and several partners. Mueller is a technologically advanced manufacturer of storage and process tanks for dairy farms, breweries and process industries. In 2017, the company decided to consolidate its four Dutch establishments to one site.
Two locations were considered for the new-built plant. The American management was aiming to choose a cheaper plot in the north of the Nederlands. The Dutch management, however, anticipated a large shortage of technically qualified personnel. Oost NL, the province of Gelderland, the local council of Oost-Gelre and business park Laarberg all joined hands to secure Mueller for the region and prevent it from moving to the north part of the country.
Oost NL, together with the province of Gelderland, looked at all possible financial support within the so-called ‘Rode Loper’-policy. The intensive cooperation between all partners resulted in Mueller’s final choice for Laarberg. This merge and expansion amounts to the preservation of some 130 existing jobs and an increase of 150 jobs.
Educational centre
Mueller is also busy establishing its own state of the art training centre, supported by the European regional aid map and in close cooperation with regional training institutes. Other local companies are welcome to use the educational centre’s facilities to train technical personnel. And with this, Mueller’s educational centre will become a true asset for the eastern Dutch manufacturing industry.
