Spiers New Technologies

The American company Spiers New Technologies (SNT) has opened its European production branch in Ede. SNT delivers reparation and revision services to battery packs for automotive clients in the fast-growing European market for electric vehicles.

The ‘Invest in Holland’ network supported the company in the decision to settle in the Netherlands. This support was a joint effort of the Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency, Nederland Distributieland and Oost NL. For future growth, continued cooperation between SNT and Oost NL is expected, among others in the field of innovative and educational programs. The goal is to offer SNT a firm position in the Netherlands and Gelderland, as a springboard for further European expansion.

SNT, with its headquarters in Oklahoma City, is market leader in the repairing, restoring and revising of expensive and complex batteries that are used in (semi) electric vehicles. The company has nearly ‘invented’ the business and technology to diagnose, upgrade, repair and restore the advanced battery systems, which are switched under warranty in electric vehicles, in a closed system. The batteries can be reused in cars or for other applications. As such, SNT is a good example of a company which is actively operating in the circular economy.

Energy Hotspot

Ede borders to the ‘Arnhem Energy Hotspot’. This means that SNT has access to the ecosystem of sustainable energy (IPKW, Battery Valley) and clean mobility (Clean Mobily Center). The vicinity of the Hogeschool Arnhem/Nijmegen (HAN Automotive college) and several institutes for vocational education was an important factor in choosing the company location.
