Autocraft
Autocraft, one of Europe’s leading OEM partners (Original Equipment Manufacturer), produces sustainable drive solutions for electric vehicles and passenger cars worldwide. With a vision of building a stronger local presence, Autocraft opened its first international location in 2023. Oost NL supported Autocraft in finding the ideal location: Arnhem, the city of electricity.
Why is Autocraft expanding beyond the United Kingdom?
Mike Hague-Morgan, Executive Director at Autocraft, shares:
"Our company leads the way in testing and repairing electric vehicles (EVs). Today, our customers are primarily large international automotive manufacturers. We focus on refurbishing and recycling both combustion engines and EV batteries."
"Currently, electric vehicles are relatively new and mainly serviced under warranty. Over time, these vehicles will shift to local garages for maintenance and repairs. To stay ahead, we are establishing a local presence now—close to our future customers. Arnhem is the perfect choice for that."
Peter van Houten, Project Manager Tech & Energy at Oost NL, adds:
"Arnhem offers exactly what Autocraft needs! We are proud to welcome them to Cleantech Park Arnhem — an award-winning industrial park dedicated to sustainable and energy-related companies. Arnhem’s strong energy cluster, including Arnhems Buiten on the former KEMA grounds, strengthens this ecosystem. Autocraft’s innovative technology and global ambitions fit seamlessly into this dynamic network."
How is Autocraft contributing to a sustainable automotive industry?
Van Houten explains: "Fossil fuels are finite. In twenty years, the market will have completely transformed. Innovation is essential. Autocraft drives this change by producing and refurbishing sustainable drive systems. Their advanced technology detects battery issues before problems arise, allowing targeted interventions to restore full functionality."
Hague-Morgan continues: "The need for electric mobility is clear. The next challenge lies in managing the growing volume of used EV batteries. We repair or renew these batteries, extending their lifecycle significantly. Our testing and repair solutions help automotive manufacturers move decisively towards net-zero emissions."
Oost NL contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals

Oost NL guided us to the perfect location for our first European site outside the UK.

How did Oost NL support Autocraft’s expansion to Arnhem?
Van Houten highlights: "At Oost NL, we actively attract foreign companies in sectors where the Eastern Netherlands excels—such as sustainable energy and circularity. Together with the Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency (NFIA), we initiated contact with Autocraft and identified the best location for them."
Hague-Morgan elaborates: "When selecting an international site, factors such as accessibility are crucial. Arnhem’s proximity to ferry connections offers an alternative to air travel, enhancing sustainability and efficiency. Our international customers easily reach us via the Netherlands' outstanding logistics hubs. Moreover, Dutch regulations align well with British standards, facilitating a smooth transition."
"We are grateful to Oost NL for guiding us to Arnhem and assisting with permits, Chamber of Commerce registration, and local banking connections. The Eastern Netherlands also provides the specialist talent we need—particularly skilled technicians in high-voltage systems. Through Oost NL’s network, the HAN University of Applied Sciences even supported the launch of our facility, with students contributing insights on efficiency, logistics, and safety."
How has the collaboration with Oost NL been?
Van Houten reflects: "Following Brexit, many British companies are exploring new opportunities across Europe. Mike acted swiftly to secure a strong position in the Netherlands. We were eager to bring Autocraft to Arnhem, recognizing their vital role in strengthening our regional energy cluster. Thanks to our ‘orange carpet’ approach, we accelerated the process to make it happen."
Hague-Morgan adds: "Arnhem has exceeded our expectations! It offers the perfect scale: vibrant yet accessible. We feel safe and welcomed in this modern environment. Our clients are impressed, and we have built an exceptional team here. The people are flexible, hardworking, and warm—an ideal foundation for our European ambitions."
