Toray Advanced Composites in Nijverdal wins Deshima Netherlands Award 2025
Toray Advanced Composites in Nijverdal has won the Deshima Netherlands Award 2025 in the well-established company category.

The award, presented by the Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency (NFIA) and the Dutch-Japanese Trade Federation (DUJAT), is a special recognition for Japanese companies that contribute sustainably to the Dutch economy, society, and the partnership between Japan and the Netherlands. The award was presented by Hilde van der Meer, Commissioner of the Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency (NFIA).
Toray Advanced Composites is a global leader in advanced materials, including fibers, textiles, resins, films and carbon fiber composites. These materials are used in aerospace, satellite and communication systems, space exploration, high-performance automotive, motorsport and various industrial applications. Through its CCS business unit, Toray also supports tooling, adhesives and composite parts.
Since the acquisition of TenCate Advanced Composites in 2018 by Japan’s Toray Group Nijverdal has become a pivotal location for high-value composite production. More than 170 employees work daily on advanced materials, polymer chemistry, engineering and production, making a direct contribution to the regional economy.
With the launch of the EU Technical Center in 2020 and the establishment of the Composite Materials Research Laboratory in 2021, Nijverdal has grown into a key hub for R&D and high-tech manufacturing. Toray collaborates closely with regional knowledge partners such as the University of Twente, the ThermoPlastic composites Research Center (TPRC), Fraunhofer and NLR, further strengthening the innovation ecosystem and international position of the East Netherlands region.
Toray also places a strong emphasis on sustainability. The introduction of its Life Cycle Assessment program enables customers to accurately measure the CO₂ footprint of thermoplastic composites in line with strict ISO standards. This is an important step toward cleaner mobility in aviation and transport.
Oost NL congratulates Toray on this well-deserved recognition: a powerful acknowledgment of a company that successfully brings together innovation, sustainability, regional development and international collaboration.
